NPP wants me to join their caucus, but my heart leans towards NDC – A-Plus

The newly elected Independent Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central Constituency in the Central Region, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has opened up about his internal conflict regarding his alignment in Ghana’s upcoming Parliament.

In a Facebook post on Monday, 6th January 2025, A-Plus revealed that both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had approached him for collaboration, each offering compelling reasons to secure his support.

In his post, A-Plus confirmed that the NPP, represented by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, had officially reached out to him.https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fweb.facebook.com%2FAPlusgh%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0hRgg6FtYQtn82oEAqENz9ikbG1zw8VWWj7z3JqxeUQVpJDMVbMsPzL5pJTgSEbU4l&show_text=true&width=500

Their proposal included an intriguing incentive: the party promised not to contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 election should he choose to align with them.

He noted that this offer was a significant gesture, demonstrating the NPP’s seriousness about securing his cooperation.

However, A-Plus expressed a stronger emotional inclination towards the NDC, stating that his heart leaned towards the party.

He acknowledged that the NDC had also scheduled a meeting with him, expressing interest in working with him in parliament.

While he admitted to having friends in both political camps, A-Plus maintained that his final decision would not be based solely on sentiments.
